By the Shore

I walked by the shore, a little too careful,
scared that the waves of uncertainty would reach me,
caress me with its words and promises
of an enchanted beauty I could only imagine.
But I was so deep in thought that I failed to realize,
Tides could get higher.
It caught me before I even stepped back;
a sense of belonging, a splash of truth.
I almost ran for the water,
indifferent with the idea that I may drown before I could reach
the other side.

By the shore,
for hours, days, and nights,
I battled with myself.
In the end,
Still, I couldn’t risk it.
